Why the Foundation is Important

Public schools in the United States are in a difficult position. The American people are sending educators and administrators two distinct yet conflicting messages: “Do a better job educating our children, but do it without more of my tax dollars!”

The Decatur City Schools Foundation provides a way to avoid the frustrations of slow moving political and legislative machinery that is constantly studying the problem of educational funding but seldom acts to generate those critical dollars.

Inaction or hesitation in providing the proper financial support to our schools may result in a generation of children unprepared for the future. Our dream is to provide an unsurpassed educational experience for our children despite the challenges.
