2010-2014 Campaign
In 2004, the Decatur City Schools Foundation achieved its initial goal of raising a principal of one million dollars completely from the community of Decatur, the results of a year-long grass roots campaign. This campaign raised over 1.2 million dollars over the course of five years. Since 2004, the Foundation has been investing the annual interest generated by the fund balance into our schools in the form of classroom grants, and funding for technology, special programs and more.
In 2009, the board of directors made the decision to hire an executive director and conduct a second capital campaign to raise an additional $1 milion dollars. The focus on the funds from this second campaign will be to actively leverage them into greater funding for our schools. This funding will be focused on increasing student achievement while calling for greater accountability and results measurement. The funds from the initial campaign will remain invested, providing a solid financial footing to the Foundation. A portion of the interest generated by this fund will be reinvested, and a portion will be used to offset administration costs for the Foundation office.
